Okay, so this morning bright and early, I decide to upgrade to 1.11. I fire up Stardock Central to do the deed. It opens a thermometer window on startup, does a quick jig and says it has to close and restart (apparently because it did some sort of self-update (I wish it'd asked first if I wanted one). About an hour or so later, I finally got updated to 1.11. First couple of times after the Central update, it just told me "install failed" when I tried updating GalCiv2. So, I start digging into error logs and basically it told me I didn't have any registered procucts or some such. I'm at work now and didn't really write all the details down for inclusion herein.
However, to make a long story short, I began the convoluted process of re-teaching Stardock Central that I was registered for GalCiv2. In short, it was more pain than I needed for just a hundreth point upgrade.
Can't reconstruct the exact steps that seemed to work via my bull in the china shop wandering around, but basically it involved finally getting what appeared via the "registration info" dialog in Central (clicked the little button in the bottom right corner) to give me a drop down choice that included GalCiv2 and then putting the CD Serial # in the box in the window. During several attempts at this, you also sent me a "copy" of my registration info via email. And any numbers inclosed therin had nothing to do with GalCiv2 but did seem to give me info about Stardock Central that was of no use to me.
So, in closing my plea would be, point me to an FAQ about keeping both Stardock Central and GalCiv2 fresh simultaneously. I'm hoping that I don't have to recapitulate this rig-a-ma-roll too often for what I am, in fact thouroughly enjoying (i.e. GalCiv2) between updates.
Sincerely,
