Different Looking Starbases

Theres different looking ships for each race so why not the same with starbases?

Ok so usually if im cruisin about the Galaxy and checkin out the scene i can tell what ships are drengin and which are altairan. But i see that all the starbases look the same. Yes there are color differences but really would humans have starbases that looked exactly the same as an those of an artificial robot race? I dont think so. If anyone is up to the task of creating racial Starbases id be really happy. However it would really be great if the developers could work on it for an update.

I wouldn't expect Stardock to release more starbases unless in an expansion, but I would certainly like it if they made it possible for you to mod it in so that each race could use a distinct style of ships/starbases, and the possibility for more than just 4 levels of "developement" for a starbase.

Errr... you're wrong. Fully developed, all starbases look different. All resource starbases look the same, because they're all doing the same thing. Economy starbases look like a spinning top. Military starbases are a weird 3D diamond. I forget influence. But mining are just mining, so obviously they WOULD be the same, the most efficient structure in space.

He was talking about between races. A human's fully developed econ starbase looks the same as a fully developed econ starbase from the Yor.

More levels of development would be nice, too - when you have several in a sector, it can be hard to remember which one needs more improvements.

Making new starbase models wouldn't be a problem. I could do it this once I get some time after I finish exams and whatnot, but the thing would be coding them in so that x race gets x style, and y race gets y style etc. etc.

Currently, the way the game is set up, I'm pretty sure that this isnt supported (but then again, I havn't poked around the xml files enough).

Modeling em is easy. Implementing them will be a different story.

If you tweak the styles to make them fit in with ship designs. If races get different ship designs, then surely they can have different starship designs?

What we need to do is get 9 different modellers to make the star bases. give each on a different race and then have them make it. This way the starbases come out completly different, plus once you get the core done on each starbase adding the next 3 steps is ez.

I think after i get all the bugs worked out my little tiny hull i'm working on i think i will take on the Korx starbases, i think i will go for a capitalist theme.. kinda like blade runnerish..

I am all for it. More ship styles too. Each race needs a unique ship style.

I would take on a race right now, but there is wayy too much on my plate right now school wise to do any modeling lol. Towards the end of this month/start of next month, I should have free time to finish my new skin for my animated hull, texture my large animated hull, THEN I can start on star bases
