Hello,
SDC = Stardock Central
Well, I cannot remember for certain, but if I recall correctly, for some reason it's as if Stardock Central WANTS you to install beta versions. Why do I say(put) it like that? Because IIRC it has 'Show pre-release versions if available' is checked as the default!
Imagine what this is like for a person who is brand new to Stardock Central and innocently accepts the defaults as being all well and good. Now, I could be wrong in my recollection, but it seems that's the way I remember SDC after initial installation. A person who is not familiar with SDC and doesn't notice that checkbox will go about their business thinking that 1.1-Beta 2 is all that's available when they go to update their game for the first time. If my recollection is correct then I consider it more Stardocks fault for giving people the notion that a Beta is all that's available. I mean... it's what you see immediately after having installed SDC!!
Speaking for myself, since I have been a computer user for quite a long while and if I were to pull up GalCiv2 in SDC and see that a 1.1 Beta is available for me to install... I would think, hmmm, if there's a 1.1 Beta then certainly there must be a regular 1.1 version somewhere. Why am I not seeing it? And then I begin invesitgating. But that's just me. I can just imagine what having the 'Show pre-release version if available' checkbox checked, by default on initial installation, must do to people who are not computer savy. Sure, the checkbox is... dooowwwwnn there, at the bottom. Not exactly hidden, but it doesn't exactly come up and smack you upside your head either.
Sorry if I'm not recalling that default correctly but from some reason that's the way I remember SDC being immediately after installing it.

jimkirk... as in James Tiberius Kirk of the Starship Enterprise? C'mon man. Jim Kirk was a little more even tempered and would have indeed used some periods and commas in his writings. I can understand how you are a little frustrated, but try to cool down a little and approach things a little more calmly if you can. I've been running the game with no crashes in my experience.
If you wish to get rid of the Beta version of the game that you currently have installed then I recommend you do the following....
1) Uninstall the game.
2) After uninstalling make sure the 'GalCiv2' folder and all it's subfolders under 'C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming' is deleted.
3) Delete the 'GalCiv2' folder and all it's subfolders under 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games'.
4) Install the game again. It will now be installed fresh and squeaky clean.
5) Start up SDC. Look at the bottom. You should see a checkbox labeled something like 'Show pre-release versions if available'. UNCHECK IT! Now you should see a regular v1.1 stable version available for installation instead of a Beta.
Hope that helps
