Another bug I might have found:
14). Apparently Creativity works different now, or is buggy. I am NOT creative, yet have received 12 free techs this last game by year 3, and at least 9 the game before it. It's like,,, huh? Normally I receive a SINGLE free tech when researching Space Militarization (and I get a free weapon to go along) or I research space defenses (and get a free defense tech to go along). Having played some 50+ games, this pattern has held pretty consistant. 1-2 free low level techs per game. Now, out of the blue I'm seeing many free techs, often times at higher levels. too! One time I received 2 free techs at once!
Now, this might just be working as was originally intended. Creativity never seemed to do much before, and free techs were obviously broken. Does a really really detailed change log from beta to beta exist that might explain tweaks to the research system? I guess I can go hunting.
>>I've also wondered what that "I know what you're doing" crap is
I think it means they are spying on you, which makes them cocky and want to attack you :/ Really a lame implementation that I hope is someday fixed - or replaced with a fleshed out espionage system. Blowing up starbase modules/starbases, inciting unhappiness on planets, taking over/boming enemy ships, causing a sudden drop in an enemy empire's influence. Plenty of things to dream up. I also hate how when spying, you always steal the piece of crud techs first. MOO2 had a rather nice espionage system, but it can always be better!!
