Having a blast =)

I must say, despite the two CTD's I've had in the week I've been playing, I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I mean, I usually avoid strategy games, and I'm having fun with this one. It's got a nice depth to it that seems lacking these days in games, which is pretty ironic considering Stardock had, what...10 guys working on this?

I think one of my favorite aspects of the game, aside from the freedom it gives the player in so many ways, is the humour in it. Sometimes I find half of the motivation for researching high-end techs for me is to see what the completion message is. It doesn't take itself too seriously...I like that. I just finished a metaverse game wherein I was bringing some transports into the Drath star systems in preperation for an invasion. Suddenly, a message from them pops up. Basically, since I had the difficulty on Normal, they were telling me that, while they couldn't -do- anything about it, he wanted me to know that he knew what I was doing. And he commented that my military strategy background probably came from playing video games, and then insisted that he wasn't some computer, but a sentient being. Between the AI recognizing that (not a big deal, but not something I've seen often in a game) and the content of the message itself...heck, just the concept that someone thought to *put it* there...got a good laugh out of me.

As a side note, I love the interface and the game map. The background nebula and the star field are an awesome way to make the galaxy grid interesting to look at and work with. When I first saw it with most of the grid clear, I sorta just sat there rotating and zooming in and out looking at it. Props to the artist who did that I also like the music tracks...the menu music has made it's way onto my iTunes playlist.

Anyway...thanks Stardock, for what I personally consider to be a more fun and inovative game than most 'big name' developers have made in the past year or so

Yeah, the trolls get lots of responses - keeping their posts in view far longer than they should be. Only fair to do the same...

Glad you are enjoying the game - I've been playing virtually non-stop since release day and still enjoying it. OK, so I've always been a TBS fan, but considering Civ4 got put on the shelf after a couple of weeks...

I love this game too but it is causing some serious domestic problems.

I can't help it if I'd rather play this game than listen to my wife complain about carrying my child.

*for the humor impaired the previous two lines were written "tongue in cheek"

Bump for anti-trollism.

I too have enjoyed this game immensely. I really looked forward to Civ4 - but - I never could get my system to be able to allow it to finish a game ( my fault btw) , but that's okay because I never got the "One more Turn" experience from it despite all it's glitz and glamour. I could have dealt with the issues it had on my sytem, (not blaming those devs for them) if I really wanted too, but the gameplay was just not there for me.

Anyway, I was looking for a TBS to replace Civ2 and 3 which I really loved, but honestly I was burned out on the Historical theme. Galciv2 's sci-fi based theme is so refreshing - and the AI is so killer. Best AI I have ever played in a TBS.

Great game, and awaiting the next offical patch....

I also liked the civ series, and I did play Civ4 for 6 months...but it is lacking the one more turn...I could turn it off and go and do something else.

G2 keeps me up till 2 or 3 am....playing, totally oblivious to the time passing. This game is more addictive than SMAC, (Sid meyes alpha centari), which I loved, and still play. Keep up the good work.

Now if the forum software was as good as the game...I would be extremely happy

Yup, it's a great game. Moo2 has finally been topped I believe and it only took 11 years.

(Speak of the devil, trying to post this I keep getting Blank screens. And it logs me off the web site. The SQL squirrels are on the loose again!!!! )

Bought this game 3 weeks ago and played it every day since then, its great, so many different ways to win, AI thats a challenge, 100's of features.......just not enough time.....when is that anti-ageing drug due out

I have been playing GalCiv II for several weeks and also find myself compairing it to MOO2, I wish there was a ship build queue like the social queue but so far I am very happy with the game. I still play MOO2 regularly. After 11 years I still play on the weekends because it allows me to play multi-player with my wife and friends. When GalCiv II comes out with good multi-player support I'll retire the old pentium I network.
